Management of Skin Lesions

Biopsy

Any suspicious biopsies can be biopsied at the time of appointment.

Removal of Suspicious Lesions

At mole surgery, we do offer excision of suspicious lesions at very nominal costs. The procedures are done under Local Anaesthetic at the clinic. Any complex procedures which will need plastic surgeon intervention will be referred appropriately to a friendly Plastic surgeon or the plastics department in the hospital after discussion with the client.

Freezing of lesions

Some of the skin cancers may be treatable with Liquid Nitrogen. We do offer the treatment in appropriate situations.

Medical Treatment

All skin cancers may not need excision, and some can be treated with medications like Aldara and Effudix. Appropriate treatment will be recommended and prescribed depending upon the diagnosis. Different treatment options will be discussed.

Service features

Accurate Diagnosis

Any suspicious lesions will be discussed at a forum of experts on the Australasian Skin cancer College, with your permission.  Skin Cancer College Australasia is a   peak body representing and supporting primary skin care practitioners in Australasia.

Skin cancer education

Education about the skin cancers is a powerful tool, and this can save lives.

We want you to know what to look out for in future, what are your risk factors and how you can protect yourself and your family against skin cancer.

Head to Toe Skin check

The mole surgery doctor will carry out a thorough skin check and identify the moles which are suspicious. We use the latest digital dermoscopy, to diagnose any changes in moles and other skin lesions which could be indicative of skin cancers.

Digital dermoscopy offers an excellent baseline for future comparison and monitoring of your moles, as all images are securely stored and can be referred to at future checks.

The images will be studied by the doctor, and a written report with recommendations for management will be issued.

Full body photography

Close to 50% melanomas do arise on normal skin. So it is essential to have photographic evidence of skin for future reference, in case new moles crop up.

Serial Photography

Serial photography helps in picking up subtle changes in suspicious moles over time. The moles will be re Imaged, if indicated, to look for any changes.
